Local SEO Service Blueprint
Blueprint Course
Local SEO Service Blueprint
Help local businesses get found on Google without ranking guarantees.
This course teaches you how to start and run a local SEO service as a solo operator: honest fit and economics, a retainer offer built around Google Business Profile optimization, citation and NAP cleanup, review systems, on-page local basics, and monthly reporting; setup, pricing, location-dependent legal and insurance basics, your first 10 clients, delivery checklists, and growth without breaking quality. Every money example uses the same planning base case: about $300–$1200 per monthly retainer, roughly 4–12 retainers per month, about $25 variable cost per retainer, about $80–$200 fixed monthly costs, and about $200–$800 to start — which pencils out to very roughly $1,000 to $7,000 a month before tax under stated assumptions — a planning range, not a promise. Replace every figure with your local numbers. No guaranteed #1 rankings; no black-hat spam. This is educational content, not legal, tax, medical, or financial advice.
What you get
Built for operators who want a clear path — not a pile of generic tips.
The base case
One worked example, not a target
Planning estimates, before tax and before anything you pay yourself — no income is guaranteed. Your own prices, volume and costs will differ; the course walks you through replacing every number here with yours.
Who this fits
- You want to build a real local SEO practice with packages, monthly retainers, and systems — not one-off hobby gigs forever
- You are comfortable with outreach, discovery calls, and monthly client check-ins as part of the job
- You are willing to verify location-dependent business registration and advertising rules before taking money
- You can live with a learning curve on Google Business Profile, citation cleanup, review systems, and on-page local content while you improve
- You can explain results honestly when a month is flat instead of hiding behind jargon
- You will track money as profit before tax, not vanity revenue
Honest risks
- Demand and pricing for local SEO services vary by market; slow months are normal and no income is guaranteed.
- Skipping location-dependent registration, advertising-claim, or insurance checks can shut you down after you already spent money.
- Underpricing and unlimited scope ('can you also fix my website?') are the most common ways solo operators burn out in this trade.
- Platform risk: Google changes Business Profile features, review policies, and local ranking behavior without notice; one change can flatten a result you were counting on.
- Quality slips when you scale volume without checklists, written scope, and a monthly reporting routine.
- No guaranteed #1 rankings and no black-hat spam. Crossing this line creates refund, suspension, and reputation risk for you and your client.
Who should skip this one
- You sell guaranteed first-page or #1 rankings — not allowed in this course.
- You will not do the slow unglamorous GBP, citation, and review work that actually moves local search.
- You want to buy fake reviews, spin doorway pages, or keyword-stuff business names to shortcut results.
- You cannot tolerate a client asking 'what did I pay for this month?' and answering with a plain report.

Honest economics before tax
~4 min read
Base-case planning figures for a solo local SEO service: about $300–$1200 per monthly retainer, roughly 4–12 active retainers at a sustainable pace, about $25 variable cost per retainer per month (reporting tool seat, citation submissions, a share of software), about $80–$200 in fixed costs per month (rank tracker, website, email, accounting), and about $200–$800 to start. At that load the arithmetic works out to very roughly $1,000 to $7,000 a month before tax under stated assumptions — a planning range, not a promise. No income is guaranteed.
- Low end: 4 retainers at $300 = $1,200 revenue; minus $100 variable and about $100 fixed leaves roughly $1,000 before tax
- Middle: 8 retainers averaging $600 = $4,800; minus $200 variable and $150 fixed leaves roughly $4,450 before tax
- High end: 12 retainers averaging $650 = $7,800; minus $300 variable and $200 fixed leaves roughly $7,300 before tax — but 12 clients is a full calendar
- None of these numbers include self-employment tax, health insurance, or the month a client churns
Revenue is not profit. After variable and fixed costs, what remains is operating profit before tax and before paying yourself. Retainer businesses also lose clients: plan for a churn month where two retainers end at once and your number drops before you replace them.
